starts the berrinche!!!
On December 26, 2011, two Spanish friends arrived, marking the start of the Environmental Meltdown. They came to fully incorporate themselves in the festival, putting forth all of their energy and charisma for the realization of the set goals. One of them is Manuel Muñoz Bellerin from the city of Seville, Andalusia (Member of the LLAR Association), and the other is María Esperanza Jorge Barbuzano from Tenerife, Canary Islands (Member of the Canary Solidarity Committee with the town); both are internationalists and have participated in similar projects in the past, making a significant impact on them.
Manuel Muñoz Bellerin has already been in the group for the months of July and August in 2008, where he worked with a theater of the oppressed workshop, which served to treat subjects about conflict at a community and interpersonal level. Working based on the works of Federico García López, they took three subjects from three different pieces of his work - liberty, death, and violence - and created the play "Tropic Oneiric".
We have had an intense week of worth with both friends who have proposed the construction of a new play, "The Technique of Collective Creating," where all of the workshop's group members' ideas are heard, debated, and put into action. The day began:
Tuesday, December 27, 2011: The group worked with concentration dynamics, they looked for the union of the group in the workshop and for an input of ideas about a current environmental problem in the city of Granada, Nicaragua. The ideas, based on collective creation, were used for open improvisation.
Wednesday, December 28: The group concluded the proposed theme of Lake Cocibolca's contamination. They employed image theater and defined their characters based on the range of power of the contamination.
Thursday, December 29: They looked for the structure of the first scene in order to reinforce the function of their characters, their characterization, and also, the 'why?' for each character.
Friday, December 30: The group polished their characters even more and continued sharing ideas to enrich the scene and the formation of the second scene, trying to their best to make the theme they wish to express understandable for the future audience.
Monday, January 2, 2012: They formed the second scene where the group looks to raise awareness about the contamination of Lake Cocibolca.
Both friends, Manuel and María Esperanza, have equally observed a series of qualities and expectations in the group in relation to the collective creating technique. This has been seen by the group's active participation in idea conformation and theatrical proposals, making every member of the workshop feel committed and connected to the theme.
