Award for the School in Managua Carnival 2008

On March 1st the School performed at Managua Carnival Parade: Trash Devils and Recycling Angels. The environmentalist message of our production was to show the audience that trash if recycled can benefit us and our planet. The setup idea was from our friend Warren Ogden and directed by English actor Ben Wheatley.

Effort and work of all was exhibit in each costume. The angels were made by our only actress Gisha and the group of girls who are invited to participate. The punk devils costumes appeal were the wings. Metal wings design was done by Warren together with our colleague Rafa and his brother Douglas Largaespada who also was charged with the making and welding and the Earth float. Scrap art of the wings and punk costumes was done by the rest of the boys in the group under school’s director advice. It was hard work until late at night because of the short time preparation we had. Mayor of Managua was our major sponsor.

First exposure in Granada received very positive reviews by the people. This motivated us to put all our energy in Managua’s Carnival. Surprise came few days later when we were called by the Carnival organizers congratulating us for winning a prize as the jury had given us second place among the 52 carnival groups from Nicaragua who participated.

Our next exhibition will be in August for the parade of the famous Agostinas Fairs where people from all over the country and from abroad come to Granada.
