The First Wave of Berrincheros!

Since January 3rd our friends have arrived and the first to sign up were our graffiti artists to support us with their paintings that beautify our enchanting city and the people are already feeling the winds that are approaching from different areas. From Guatemala El Loco and Puli2 are newly joining us and were part of the decoration through their graffiti. Furthermore, Yiyo has joined us, who already was able to enjoy all of the activities of the festival, and who could not help his friend from Germany not become lost in the power of the work and not share with other artists who come to enjoy the Meltdown and support the activities.

This year, like the last, we have started to paint some of the walls that we have found, which has been very difficult. Already this year we have not had the support in which we had with the walls last year. Only from a few friends, but on those which are not very big, they have come very motivated, as always, to capture the art that characterizes them. Yet, this will not by very difficult since in addition to the wall murals they are going to paint during the festival, in the same way they are going to paint the banners that we will hang at the two city entrances so that they can view and participate in the festival’s activities.

This is not everything today. Volunteers and artists from Costa Rica, el Salvador, and Guatemala arrived. They came to unite the previous festival activities to be able to keep advancing in the things we need to have ready for the days of the Meltdown.

By tomorrow some will start to help with the elaboration of the ID tags, information cards, communication of the activities, among other things. On Saturday, Marvin arrives, who will be working on the creation of the float and some materials for the carnival finale.

We feel very happy to see so many people after a year of not seeing one another and happy to meet new friends who have ventured to camp at the Bottle House, where we are housing those who have been arriving. We hope that this time will be even better than the last. We always hope for new things and to strengthen the bonds of friendship that every year are interwoven more and more with each edition we do. We hope they enjoy the Meltdown activities very much and that they always have good memories of all that they experience during the week.
